Ambrym is included as one of earth’s top ten most active volcanoes, having been in a regular state of eruption for over 200 years. Known locally as ‘Black Island’, it possesses a lunar like landscape where molten lava flows are regularly seen streaming from the continuously smoking twin vents of Marum and Benbow.
