Efate has some great attraction that you should visit while on holidays in Port Vila, some of these attractions you can access by using a local bus or taxi and others you will require the hire of a vehicle or tour company.
Mele Cascades Waterfall
these waterfalls are 20min from the city centre and provide lush rainforest swimming pools that all lead up to the main 50 meter high waterfall and if you look closely enough may just see the face in the waterfall.
Onsite there is a bar & café with plenty of outdoor seating, there are also toilet and shower facilities though the showers are cold. Transport to and from the waterfall can be by public transport or private tour. Entrance fees do apply.
Underwater Post Office
You will find the underwater post office just off hideaway island, you can purchase waterproof post cards that will go anywhere in the world, hideaway is also a nice location to snorkel and relax on the coral beach.
Market House
The market house is a unique experience; the mama’s (local women) live at the markets from Monday morning till Saturday afternoon when they go home for church.
You can go to the markets and taste fresh fruit and vegetables the way they are supposed to be totally seasonal and organic. You can event try true local food like Tuluk, a doughy sausage roll wrapped in banana leaf.
All this can be found in the middle of town and without spend a lot of money.
National Cultural Centre
This centre is a great place to see Vanuatu’s rich cultural background, from cultural dress to local art work. On weekends and school holidays they centre runs kids programs.
Eton Beach
This is a popular swimming spot for people in Port Vila, this spot is about 40min driving from town on sealed roads. The white sandy beach is flanked by a freshwater creek the meets an opening in the reef all to make a unique protected swimming hole. Small entrance fee applies
